Don’t ignore your eyebrows–they frame your eyes. Brow Bar to Go allows you to frame your eyes beautifully.
Do you ever wonder what you might look like without eyebrows?
The most famous portrait in history; Mona Lisa, will give you a good idea. Shaving eyebrows was the style of the day, and we know how style dictates! It may have been attractive then but today it looks a little odd, doesn’t it?
Eyebrows Are Not just beauty Features!
Eyebrows also protect our eyes from dust and debris floating around. They also help keep sweat and moisture out of our eyes and keep our eyes dry when we walk around the rain.
They also help our vision. If we didn’t have eyebrows, our ability to see would be limited. The salt in sweat irritates the eyes, making them sting a little. Your eyebrows minimize this.
Ancient Egyptians Styled Their Brows
In ancient Egypt, eyes were heavily lined. This also made it necessary to darken eyebrows. Brows were shaped and arched lengthened using carbon and other elements. The Unibrow was a thing of beauty in Ancient Greece and single women darkened their eyebrows.
What about Ancient Roman women? Did they like a particular style? Well, just like Ancient greek women, they also preferred the uni-brow look. They thought it was a sign of intelligence. The most notoriously beautiful women of the time sported the look we try to wax away!
The Middle Ages
The middle ages (1066-1485) found the most stylish women with heavily plucked eyebrows. Barely visible, eyebrows were often dyed red honoring Queen Elizabeth who had red hair. This style continued in the 20th Century.
The Roaring 20s
The Roaring 20s brought back the traditional look from the middle ages with needle-thin brows that were often drawn on and extended beyond the corner of the eye. You’ll see this if you look closely at pictures of flappers.
Oh, Those 40s and 50s!
World War Two brought many trends mostly due to the scarcity of many items. Women were forced to do what they could with what they had to work with. Well, everyone had eyebrows, right? Those who could do so wore their brows thinner and less severe in the 1040s. From there the stronger, highly arched eyebrows of the 50s rose to prominence.
The 60s to Today
Women of the 60s plucked their eyebrows pencil thin and then drew them in. Soon the look reverted to the natural vibe of the 70s; moving right into the bushy-browed beauty of the 80s and then the “anything goes” look of the 90s.
Today’s Brow Look
Today’s look is called the Power Brow. Really, anything goes–uh, except the uni-brow. Some brow looks are thick and sophisticated and others are sculpted by tweezers. Either way, Brow Bar to Go by Gerard Cosmetics can help you shape, color and fill.
