Makeup Removal Tips
Of course you want your skin to look its best! Your skin is the foundation for your high-quality Gerard Cosmetics. Don’t overlook the importance of removing your makeup. When and how you remove your makeup is something you need to know for best results.
You probably learned at a very young age how to wash your face and remove your makeup. Unfortunately, a lot of us don’t find out until much later in life that we’ve been doing it wrong. Yes, there is a right and wrong way to wash your face.
Have you noticed skin irritation or redness? Are you using any new products? Either your makeup or skin care system could be to blame. It could have something to do with skin allergies.
Or it could be related to any or all of the following:
Leaving Makeup on Too Long
Your makeup mixes with sweat and bacteria throughout the day, which, if left alone, can lead to unsightly blotches, blemishes or discoloration. Leaving it on overnight is a well-known no-no, but leaving it on too long throughout the day can be, too.
Instead of removing your makeup at night before bed, try removing it at the end of the day when you get home from work instead. Those few extra hours of being makeup-free can do wonders for your skin.
Using Makeup Wipes
Makeup wipes are convenient, but they’re not the best choice when it comes to makeup removers. Many women rely on wipes for times they get home late and just want a quick fix. Don’t fall into this trap!
No matter how tired you are, you always wash your face with a good cleanser after you remove your makeup. A light abrasive cleanser would be perfect. The cleanser will get the built up oils, dirt and bacteria that makeup wipes alone will not.
Using One Wipe
So, let’s be real. There are going to be times you use makeup wipes, right? If so, use more than one. When you only use one wipe to remove your makeup, you’re probably not getting everything.
Using only one wipe might work well in the spots you start but it can leave remnants of your makeup in areas you clean last. The oils and makeup left behind can be responsible for pimples and blackheads.
Use a different wipe on your face than the one you use on your eyes. Wiping your face with the same wipe with which you removed your eye makeup can grind the eye makeup and mascara into your delicate skin. This can lead to clogged pores.
