We all know pollution has a detrimental effect on the environment, but did you know that it can also wreak havoc on your skin and teeth?
When most people think about pollution, we don’t always think about our mouths and teeth. Instead, the mind conjures up images of cold, grey factories with smoke stacks spewing noxious gasses into the air. The truth is, there are way more pollutants than these and here’s something else to sink your teeth into: there can be 2-5 times more pollution found INSIDE than outside!
Stoves and fireplaces contain a black, sooty pollutant called creosote, and pressed wood and foam insulation have been known to cause skin irritation and rashes. Luckily, there are a couple simple things you can do to help reduce some of the pollution that may be present in your home:
1) Increase Ventilation(open a window!)
2) Keep the humidity inside your home low
Pollution Ages Skin and Teeth! Air pollutants found outside have been known to cause premature aging due to robbing the skin of oxygen. The reduction of oxygen in combination with UV radiation from the sun reduces collagen production and often leads to saggy, wrinkly skin.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much you can do to avoid air pollution if you live in a big city or an area with a lot of smog. Stay inside as much as possible on days where the air quality is poor, and getting a HEPA filter on your vacuum.
Mouth Pollution Stains Teeth! Clear skin is great, but clear skin and white teeth is better still! Whitening Lightning products will help a good dental hygiene program along by removing dull, discolored marks and stains from MOUTH POLLUTION on your teeth. Check ’em out on our website.
